Am feeling so fed up.Have bad eczema and I am being treated at the moment so not too bad. However, due to the sensitivity of skin and risk of infection, I am having recurring bouts of the herpes virus around same eye.Starts as blisters and has potential for eyelid to swell up and I look a state. Was on antibiotics/anti viral tablets only a month ago for this and also September it was same story.Any other eczema suffers like this??hate bothering doctor AGAIN asking his nurse for advice plus hate having to take tablets so soon again.Any advice welcome.Maybe I might not be too bad tomorrow.. I tend to panic as can't hide a swollen eye! Thanks xx

Please see your GP. DD had herpes in the back of her eye last year and it affected her eyesight. You cannot risk it. She was given anti virals and steroid eye drops.

Yes! I have suffered like this for years.

I have recently found that 1000mg of Ester C daily helps to keep the coldsores at bay. Have gone from having 2-3 a month (almost always around the eyes) to 2-3 in the last 6 months.

Unfortunately, the virus got into my eye a couple of years ago and has caused permanent damage for which I need ongoing treatment which looks likely to continue for life.

Do you use Zovirax cream on them? I always do. Only really works if you can catch them before they develop but it can help to lessen the severity of them and speed up the healing process. I've also found the light machine thingies pretty effective too

Poor you. I wouldn't want to be taking the antiviral tablets too often either as they make me feel dreadful. I've just abandoned a course of them after a few days for Shingles (second episode of it this year) as they were making me feel more poorly than the virus was!

:)

Do try the Ester C supplements. They have really reduced the frequency of my outbreaks massively. I buy them here: www.healthspan.co.uk/vitamin-c/ester-c-1000mg/productdetail-p3197029-c150.aspx
