Have just had a bad cold, and alhough I feel absolutely fine now, have woken up this morning feeling terribly dizzy and out-of-balance. it's like being pissed - only I'm not!
Is it an ear-nose-throat thing? How long will it last, anybody? I have to go to work tomorrow Any help/advice welcome. It's really odd!

Inner ear infection. Ive had it lots. Its a total pita, had it when i was pg last.

You need to visit docs to get some antibiotics or some stuff that fixes it - have had both types. (sorry - cant remember names of drugs).

It will go on its own eventually though. Rest up as much as possible - try not to move your head too much.

It could be vertigo or labryntitus brought on by a sinus infection, do a search on the net for more info.hth.

Close your eyes. Do you feel like you're doing somersaults? If so, it's probably labyrinthitis, in which case, it will pass. It's an after-effect of the cold.

Having caffeine makes it worse. So does turning your head quickly (duh).

From what I know, the drugs for labyrinthitis just suppress the symptoms, and don't fix it. Also, they have nasty side-effects. It's best to just wait it out if you can.

Poor you, fullmoonfiend. Does sound like labyrinthitis. Horrible! It will take a few days for the worst symptoms to calm down but can take a few weeks for a normal feeling to return. Your GP can prescribe something that will help with the nausea.

It can go fairly quickly, depending on how severe it is, or maybe just luck. My attacks never last more than 4-6 hours. And I always get them after colds with a lot of snot.
