Molluscum breakthrough!

Haven't posted this until it was absolutely gone but both ds1 and ds2 have had this and after various experiments have found a combination of the following used daily has worked over last 3 - 4 weeks if anyone interested:

  1. Thuja (30) homeopathic remedy
  2. Collodial silver spray
  3. Manuka active 10 + honey mix together lavender oil x 2 drops, tea tree x 2 drops, olive oil x 6 drops on cotton pad/bud and dab affected area using new cotton pad/bud in each part to avoid spreading
  4. mix lavender oil x 5 drops tea tree oil x 5 drops + unrefined sea salt x 1 cup all in bath
bath every day, lavender and tea tree can be very drying so olive oil important plus dry carefully with clean towel starting with unaffected areas first
    wash pillow/bedding/pj's daily
my ds2 had the molluscum spreading to his face so i was very motivated to find something after docs said it will take up to 18 months to clear and nothing they could do.
    hope this helps someone

thank you so much!

my eldest (all of 30mths now) had this for ages and the doc said the same thing...just have to wait till it goes, which it did in the end.

good to know that there is actually something you can do about it, as have (shortly anyway) 3 under 3 and this is bound to crop up again

So it's contagious then? Just got back from the doc with DS who has this on his bum and the doc just said leave it alone and gave me no advice on what to do about it. In fact he dismissed it so quickly and didn't even want to see it when I said I thought it was molluscum. I asked him to look anyway to confirm it. He just said leave it alone and that was it. Helpful.

It's not contagious in that the child can still go to playgroup etc. It is passed in swimming pools thoughso it's contagious in that way.
It spreads on the child and is horrid. DD had it for about 8 months. The way it went in the end was that it got infected and her body seemed to attack it then and it went red, yellow and then went.
My gp told me that what they used to do in days gone by was prick them with a cocktil stick and the body would attack them and they'd go. He didn't recommend that I did that though

i think most playgroups are ok about it as long as its properly covered to avoid risk of cross infection. they are a type of wart. you can have them frozen off aswell as cocktail stick but doctors won't consider children for treatment

It doesn't pass from ordinary contact. I think that there must be something in swimming pools though- if they don't get the chlorine balance right then it doesn't kill off viruses. My dd was only about 6 months old when she caught hers and the only place we'd been that was a risk was the swimming pool. HAving said that I shared a bath with her while she had it and I never caught it so I really don't think it passes that easily
have a look here for info

The only good thing is that once you've had it you won't get it again. It's very common in kids apparently so at least she got it out of the way early IYKWIM
