DD home sick again!!

Last winter between october and march dd was off nursery almost as much as she was actually there. It was almost entirely due to very minor illnesses - just your basic cold/cough virus except with her she tends to get a fever every single time. Once or twice she needed an antibiotic (because she was so congested that she ended up with ear infections) but mostly we just had to wait it out each time. She was usually off for a week at a time.

So at the start of this term we started her on children's chewable echinacea hoping it might help a bit - I know kids need to get sick to build up there immunity but we thought this might help her recover faster or get less severe symptoms (ie maybe the cold without a fever). Last week she got the usual cold/fever thing and we kept her home for a day and the next day the fever was gone and she seemed much better. I was really pleased she had bounced back so quickly. All weekend she was great then all of a sudden sunday night she got very hot again. A bit of a runny nose and a cough but mostly it's just the fever (really frustrating actually because as long as you keep the calpol going she doesnt' even feel that sick). She's been off all week and now she's covered in a rash. Been to the GP to check it out - it's just a viral rash, she also sometimes gets these when she's been sick. He also did a throat swab to check for strep but said her tonsils looked completely normal so no call for antibiotics.

I'm just so upset that it seems to have started again! I don't think i can face another winter like last year and I don't know what I can do to help her.
