House dust allergy types - what medication do/did you take if breastfeeding?

Chest is really tight, not coughing but wheezing at night. Had bad cold a few weeks ago so don't know if it's the remnants of that. But, lots of DIY has been going on house = very dusty. And I'm the sneezy type anyway. So, what can I take that is safe whilst breastfeeding?

Many thanks

Huh, Piriton - if it works for you Tinker. Never did for me
But I do munch packets of Olbas pastilles to make me feel less congested and a pharmacist told me they were fine in pregnancy and while b/f

It's teh chest tightness I'm fed up of (as well as sneezing) Think I'm suffering from effects of smog!

Tinker, I was the sneezy type for as long as I can remember. Always had to have tissues to hand. Allergic to all sorts of things including house dust mites, dogs, pollen etc. Also badly asthmatic, exascerbated by DIY and pg.

Two years ago my son was diagnosed with a wheat and dairy allergy. I also came off wheat and dairy in sympathy with him and, low and behold, ALL symptoms disappeared.

I only ever blow my nose when I have cold. No more itchy eyes. I only ever get tight chested when I have a cold (or mum's dog come to stay).

It has revolutionised my life, quite by accident. I wish I'd known before. I'm evangelical about it because I'm so happy to be free of it.

It seems it was a combination of the digestive allergies and then the dust/dog allergies on top which were causing the immune system to go into overdrive.

I know cutting out wheat and dairy is very, very difficult, but surely it has to be worth a go. There's good wheat free pasta etc available now and I do eat goats cheese/milk and butter.

But...I've just bought...chocolate . Keep meaning to try this but no will power.

Weirdly, symptoms disappeared altogether when pregnant. How strange is that?

Because your immune system was depressed, permitting dd2 house-room. My hayfever was non existent while pregnant but kicked in big time as soon as I wasn't anymore.
Gulp at the prospect of cutting out wheat and dairy, though - think I'd sooner snuffle spidermama especially if chocolate was at issue...

Oh I'm not that strict.

There's no point denying oneself chocolate now is there?
That would be unnecessary masochism and could well lead to depression, not to mention a drop in iron levels and, heaven forfend, a rise in libido.
