DS1 and DS2 have been sick with cold, chest infections, different viruses for at least the last 2 months. Now DS2 has a throat infection and is running a temperature of 40 through the night . He is on his 3rd lot of antibiotics, poor thing, and I really need some advice to break this cycle. They seem to be passing bugs back and forth to each other. I'm now giving them echinacea drops and vitamin c but would welcome any suggestions of how to strengthen their immunity.

Hi, I've had exactly the same with my 2 year old DD. Tried exactly what you've done plus added some manuka honey (10 + strength) to her diet, and cooked with lots of garlic. Touch wood after 2 months of various viruses she seems to be better. A little bit of a runny nose but nothing much else. I've also put her on Solgar's multivitamin for children

I think this is really common with children of this age - especially your DS2 who is facing his first winter. Has your DS1 started at some playgroup or something where he is mixing with other children and picking things up? I would keep doing what you are doing, make sure they are getting a good diet with plenty of fruit and veg and maybe try some probiotics to counteract the antibiotics and other than that I think you will just have to sit it out.

my DD who is 13 mths had a cold and bad coughs for the past 2 months and she is full of it again!! Doctor said yesterday that baba got a viral infection so give Calpol or anything else similar and a warm bath every day to cough it up (she thew up on me twice last nite due to cough - what a pong!)... its commom for the young little ones to pick up nearly every bug on the go!

shall i buy some honey to see if that kill the bacteria?

Thanks for your advice Funnily enough I have been adding Manuka honey into porridge - when this one runs out will increase to 10 strength...It's just awful when you're up 2-3 hours a night by ds2 and then ds1 decides he wants to get up at 6am! then just to lull you into a false sense of security, they give you one, maybe two nights of full sleep before one of them gets ill again!

The first winter is always the worst, I remember it well!!!! Its bugs galore but they seem to just pick up immunity and as each winter comes it gets easier, I say this touching wood

My kids haven't been too bad so far (5 and 3) but I have been giving them Multivits for about 3 months now so not sure if this has helped or they are just getting more resistant.

I really think so much of it is about building up resistance. My DS has been the worst this winter since he was a baby and I put that down to starting school and a whole new germ environment.
