Would say Dianette too but it may be in your interests also to find out exactly why your skin is like it is. More often than not hormonal imbalances are to blame and in this regard polcystic ovaries is a common culprit.

I've been on yasmin for 5 months and have seen a definite improvement in my skin. I have PCOS but Dianette doesn't do anything for my skin.

I've been referred to a consultant who has confirmed that Yasmin can improve spots in a lot of women.

only problem with Dianette is that it's not recommended you stay on it for more than a year. I've been on it continuously for almost two years now and my GP wants me to switch to another contraceptive. I'm dreading to think what will happen.

missy8, dianette is a combined oral contraceptive. you can't take anuy of them while bf as it will affect your milk production

sugarmag, try to find a more sympathetic GP. Was on dianette for 10 years, no adverse affects and no probs getting pg when I stopped it...took last pills on honeymoon and DD1 born on first anniversary exactly.

roaccutane. it's like magic. the only thing is - it is teratogenic so you mustn't mustn't mustn't get pg while you're on it.

and only available from a consultant dermatologist IIRC.

My skin is always better when I'm on the pill and have only ever used Microginon (sp?).

Have you tried any vitamins? Vit c and zinc are meant to be good for skin, antioxidants would help. Might be worth trying alongside?

What's Yasmin? Have skin problems myself, am on Microgynon, not improved it. Turning 30 soon & beginning to wonder if i've just got to accept that this is it, this is the way my face is!

Thread hi-jack! Has anyone else's acne been cured by having children. Mine was and am just interested.

passionflower - have actually been on Dianette off and on over the last 6 years, stopped twice to have dd and then ds. I have now been on it for 2 years continously and GP says there is higher risk of things like blood clots with Dianette than with other pills. Especially as I go on long haul flights several times a year that's a risk that worries me.

My long-term acne didn't improve after having children. Unfortunately I've been plagued for many years with cystic acne. Currently on microgynon which suits me down to the ground. Took a few months to sort my skin out but it's great now. My skin problem is definitely driven by a hormone imbalance. I dread the day I have to come off the pill. Even with the risk of the side effects, anything is better than acne.

My skin problem probably isn't hormonal then, as the Pill hasn't made any difference to it. Probably more water & fruit & less chocolate and crisps would help!!
