What age do armpits get smelly?

Is this to do with hormones?
How old were your kids when their pits began to smell?

I would guess when hormones kick in... my friend's DD is 11 and she is starting now (along with mood swings for the past year)

I'm glad you said that lockets because my 7 year old girl gets smelly armpits. Especially if she wears nylon etc. I don't want to get deoderant for her though yet.

It's hormonal and not necessarily connected to puberty. BF's DS1 had to start using deodorant at 8 but is only now (at 12) hitting some of the other puberty milestones.

My DD started to smell at 7 also. I bought her the most mild deodorant here called Tussy, not an antiperpirant, just a deodorant and she did fine with it Spidermama. I'm sure they must have something at the natual foods store that would work for her and be very mild on the skin.

look under "close up" in products

Lush do deodorant solid things - they aren't anti-persperants so won't block up her little pores, just make what comes out smell nice

Thanks for putting my mind at rest. Sounds like this is fairly normal then. Poor thing.

Spidermama, my dd was 9 (now 10). I bought her Bionsen deodorant from Sainsburys (some Boots do it too) as it is the only one I could find that is aluminium free. Its not the deoderant that's the problem, its the antiperspirant.
