Sounds a bit nasty to me - my experience of minor burns is that they have blistered and gone a bit waxy and then cleared to pink new skin.

Never had black!

Why don't you take her to the docs tomorrow, just to be on the safe side??

lisalisa - doesn't sound good. i would ring NHS direct, and then if they say it's ok to wait, tak her to the dr tomorrow.

The First ASid course I went on made me a lot less calm about burns. if it is even a slight burn bigger than a 10p piece, or a deep burn of any size, you should go to the hospiatl.

DH did something similar quite a few years ago. I passed him a mug of coffee, but let go before he had a proper grip on it. It burnt the top of his foot, and although we soaked it straight away, it eventually turned black and crusty and took a long time to be 'comfortable'. We had major arguements at the time as I was worried about infection, but he refused to go to see the GP. It took about 4 or 5 years before the scar faded, so I think it must have been a pretty severe burn. My advice would be to get it checked by the GP just to be on the safe side. I think burns can get infected quite easily.

I'm a Nurse student and learning about Pressure Sores. Now I know a burn isn't a pressure sore but with pressure sores black skin = dead skin= bad so I'd take your DD in to have it checked as we're being taught black is bad.
