DS up 3 times each night

I'm not sure whether this should be under Health or Behaviour...DS, aged 5, has been getting up in the night to go to the loo with increased frequency recently. Apart from the effect on his (and our) sleep, I wondered how common this was. It's often about three times (eg 2.30am, 4am and 5.30am). A urine sample check came back clear and the GP was not concerned. Perhaps he's worried about something (he's never wet the bed though). Any thoughts welcome please. Thanks.

Thanks. It just seemd to me that at 5yo he might have a bit more control, or otherwise would be more settled in his sleep.

does he do a long pee when he goes each time or is it more a habit?

I think he does go properly most of the time. We've cut down on him having lots to drink just before bedtime, but that hasn't made a difference.

does he go a lot during the day too? maybe he's just got a teeny bladder? he doesn't drink anything that's a diruetic does he? maybe cut out liquid completely from tea time and see if it helps?

Yes-he does go quite often in the day. I'll try cutting down at tea-time. Perhaps if he gets used to not going in the night he'll keep that habit when I reintroduce tea-time drinks. Thanks for your help.

spose it's better than wetting the bed 3 times a night! Does he maybe get woken at those times by something? If I get woken in the night - I sometimes just go to the loo for something to do!

That's possible-perhaps I'll suggest a number of other thngs to do if woken, rather than go to the loo and wake the rest of us...like turning over and going back to sleep!
