Anyone know of totally natural skin products for babies?

I really don't want to be clarting my ds in unnecessary chemicals so wonder does anyone else have the same opinion? I'd love to get hold of some natural products. At the mo his bath is just water (but of course that's full of chlorine now) but we've had to use pure soap on his 3 inch long hair as it's attracting smells (cooking etc) and not fair to leave it. Any suggestions?

Hi, I use a combination of Little Me (from Boots) and Neal's Yard (mail order). Neal's Yard have a good website too.

I'm not sure if Weleda is totally all natural, but I think so. Thei calndula cream is excellent.

you should avoid Sodium Laureth Sulphate if at all possible

I use Weleda & Neals Yard - both are excellent. Agree with Jabberwitchy about Weleda's calendula cream, it is brilliant. Weleda stuff is usually available from good health food shops & some branches of Sainsburys.

Green Baby products are lovely. You can buy them here . I use the adult range myself. The Weleda stuff is wonderful quality but they are not so fussy about all the chemicals as Green People in my opinion. I think I have seen SLS in their products.

Little Me have no SLS, but do have paraben preservatives in some of their products. Sorry, I am a bit of a bore on this one!

I used to use the California Baby range when I lived in Canada (a little bit goes a long way), but I now use the Halo Baby range (available in Tescos)

it is a powerful industrial degreaser that strips your skin of pretty much everything. Can leave skin very dry or, in dd2s case, with excema and dermatitis. I only ever use water on babies, if I had to wash their hair then I started to use the Green Baby baby wash which is pretty good.

it foams impressively so makes you feel as though it is really cleaning you.

I use Jason stuff on me too (must admit tho' doesn't always feel like great clean but so much cheaper than Neal's yard stuff)

I use a mixture of Jason stuff although I dont think its that good quality and other bits and pieces from health food shop.

Thanks everyone!
Jabberwitchy- where do you get california baby?
Enid- anything else to watch out for & avoid? I have only ever used water too, but am noticing dry patches on ds's skin (this appeared before we'd used the soap, which we've only used maybe 6 times). There's no family history of any skin complaint so I'm assuming it's to do with the chlorine etc added to tap water. Have you found this too? The Dr says it's just baby excema but my Mum says we never had it so that's why I'm putting it down to modern day chemicals you can't escape (though I am using non-bio powder). I would like to treat these patches with something natural if poss, I've tried olive oil and vaseline but they don't have any effect. On the other hand I'm wondering if I just leave them would his skin sort itself out or would that just allow it to get worse? Now I'm becoming the bore!
Frannykenstein- you're not a bore! I wish I knew as much as you! No harm in being well informed.

DD has very sensitive skin. On her body, we use a baby soap made by a local company called Napiers. Also their 'Infant Starflower Creme'.

Her scalp and hair don't do well w/lauryl sulfates - not do mine. We used L'Oreal Kids on her and her poor face broke out in an awful rash from where had touched her face. So we use OrganicChildren brand shampoo.

Just use Almond Oil

Usually available at chemists, bio-shop or in the supermarket

Oooh thanks. Do you find their product actually help the complaint to get better, or treat it as it is?

DD broke out in a rash from Johnson's baby wash adn the starflower creme sorted it out. She got a rash from the L'Oreal shampoo and the starflower creme sorted it out. So I'm a believer now!
