I think I'm having my first migraine - had to go to the out of hours GP service last night - thought my head was exploding - severe pain down one side, loss of vision in left etc. GP thinks migraine. It's getting better today, but while I've been bobbing in and out of mumsnet, I've noticed my typing is all over the place - I can touch type and usually am a v. fast accuate typist, but today it's coming out like Cod's..! Taking me ages to think about how even easy words are spelled, and I keep having to correct it.

Is this a symptom of a migraine - will the word jumble go away..?

(meant 'left eye') Never had a migraine before - if any one can recommend good painkillers aswell that would be good.

.... not sure really, but when I have migraine I can't even read without my head hurting badly, forget about trying focus my eyes in a computer screen (light too painful).

It's definitely getting better - couldn't get out of bed yesterday - light was unbearable. I'm just up this afternoon and trying to get back to normal as I really have to go to work tomorrow - oh yes, and start looking after the kids... Was just a bit worried that my brain/fingers seem a bit scrambled and aren't very good at co-ordinating spelling/typing.

I'm soooo pleased it's doing - honestly thought it must have been a brain tumour or something - the pressure on my left eye was horrible.

oh flipping heck - I realise that sounded really silly and over dramatic when others have real brain tumours to cope with. Sorry - not thinking straight.

Hope you're feeling better, Dot. Do leave the computer to its own devices while you have a migraine - it won't help!! If you want more info Migraine Action are the people who can help. Hth.

It can take up to 48 hours for you to stop feeling foggy ime.

I stopped bothering with anything bar paracetamol as they didnt work. I use hot flannels on my face and neck (as hot as can be tolerated). Also breathing into a paperbag (helps open up blood vessels in the brain which is what causes migraine).
