Hand, foot and mouth - eek!

DCs have both just been diagnosed with this - both have had very sore mouths for the last 3-4 days, been fretful and off their food (so with the beloved goldfish both dying and my nanny handing in her notice its fair to say it hasn't been a great half term!)

Has anyone had any experience of this, in particular how long we are supposed to be in quarantine for? The doctor just said until the ulcers go, which I'm thinking will probably be 3-4 days odd, so DS may miss the first one or days of school after half term but not much longer than that (please God!).

(If you haven't any experience of this but want to let me know how to keep goldfish alive or how to get a new nanny, then those views will be equally welcome!)

Anchovy - Ds has had this too. Poor wee soul couldn't understanding why eating stung so much!

It is only a few days though.

BTW - I've had my gold fish for 8 yrs!

My DD has just got over this - Dr said that she would not be infectious once the spots stopped appearing (she had them for over a week) and now seems to be on the mend.

I caught this by wiping a little boys nose for him at nursery - it was like custard, I should have left well alone!

I felt awful for quite a while and found that rest - which is what the doctor ordered - was very good. The ulcers were the worst of it though, but only lasted a few days! Hope they both feel better soon.
