Any experience with eye problems?

Hi - Oh wise mumsnetters. Just wondered if any of you had any experience of the following.
My FIL noticed something wrong with his sight which got worse today. Managed to get an appointment with GP at end of surgery today and she has sent him to hospital this evening for further tests. Apparently she said she can see back of his good eye fine - blood vessels etc. But on his bad one she can't see any of this. Anyone got any ideas what this could be? Waiting to hear from DP who's at hospital with him but can anyone enlighten me as to what i should expect.

Thanks tamum. Yes he had a tear in his retina. Spent all day today at hospital and had two laser procedures to mend the hole. He's fine now and vision is improved and back home.

oh blimey - don't!

I have my annual check coming up next week - I have retinoschisis (splitting retinas) and have had lots of laser treatment.

If anyone has any horror stories keep them to yourself please!
