Urgent - advice needed post MMR

Hello
My dd had her MMR on Mon. She already had a cold, but the nurse said that was OK. On the way to the childminders this morning - a journey of only 10mins, she developed red spots on the palms of her hands. The childminder (who has 20 years of experience and 5 kids of her own) thinks dd has got chickenpox. What are the implications of getting chickenpox only 2 days after the MMR? I'm really worried, and as usual, can't get anyone at the doctors to answer the phone.

spots on hand? never seen chickenpox on hands..but could be. Chicken pox tends to look more blistery and usually starts on body.
Could be just a mild reaction to mmr, some do get a mild dose of measels, mumps or reubella, very mild and nothing to worry about. Could be hand fooy and mouth. Has anything else develpoped?

DD had a virus about 6 months ago that was little blistery spots on her hands, they peeled, and then went back to normal.

Doctor said that as she had no other symptoms it was probably just a virus.

I'm hoping this will reassure (it's meant to). The autism research unit at Sunderland have looked specifically at MMR and catching chickenpox shortly afterwards as anecdotally they thought there might be a link. Preliminary analysis of the data set sowed that their hunch was wrong and there was no link.

You could email them though (they are very helpful) to see if they suggest anything if it is chickenpox. If they do I suspect it'll be alomg the lines of giving probiotics.

I've never known chickenpox to be on the hands. Have you got hold of the doctor yet?
Try not to worry, I know it's easier said than done, but chances are it's not chickenpox and even it is it doesn't necessaraly mean complications with the MMR

Still haven't got through to the doctor.
I'd never heard of chickenpox rash on the hands either. I'll ring the childminder soon to see if dd has anymore symptoms. I'm at work and I don't even have the car if I needed to pick her up - dh has it - and no mobile since it was nicked...

the childminder took her thinking it was chicken pox? does she mind others?

Yes, but they are older and have all had it. It sounds like they have already had everything going, actually.
