spasm? fit? reflex? in 11 week old ds

My ds (9lbs at birth/breastfed/11 weeks old/no 3 baby) was lying on his changing mat at the weekend and was waving his arms around (as they do). He was giggling away as I changed his vest and then he had both arms above his head in a more out of control way as if he couldn't get control of them. Then he turned brick red and his face looked like something from 'the scream' picture. It was over in 10 seconds, although of course it felt longer. Luckily my mother in law who has had 4 children was looking on and she was very calming, but rang yesterday to check I had taken him to the doctor. Does anyone have any experience of this? The next morning he was doing it to a much lesser extent but getting a panicky look in his eyes if he arms got above his head. He is pooing ok, no temperature and was basically happy again after it. Was it just his nerves getting a bit out of control? Any ideas would be much appreciated. I asked the nurse yesterday at the doctors when he went for injections to check it was ok for him to have them and she had no idea and wasn't pressing for me to see the doctor either- I had hoped he might be doing the injections).

Hi
It sounds like it could be wind??,
It can be really painful sometimes if it gets trapped- I know I fling my arms and legs about when its real agony ! It would frighten him too I would think ! I wouldn't worry to much, but if it keeps happening there's no harm in getting the GPs advice :-)

Might be worth getting your DS checked for reflux as my DD used to do something similar and she was finally diagnosed with reflux at 12 weeks of age (after being practically told I was imagining it by her GP!!!) My DD wasn't actually being sick, but was getting acid coming up which was causing her extreme pain, which explained her funny 'episodes'.
