Me and dd got mumps last year and both of us had been immunised (dd was only 18m and was up to date with jabs)

my neighbour is dr of inectious diseases and she says the mumps vaccine is pretty ineffective, even after two doses.

hmmm so why don't we do away with it- then everyone can get exposed as kids when infection is often sub clinical, and usually mild- rather than have adults catching it - who are far more likely to be ill/get complications. Is it just me? Or am I missing something?

crazy, isn't it?

she (my neighbour) then went on to say "Some really weird people actually don't get their children vaccinated, believe it or not."

She did blush a smidge when I told her I wouldn't give mine MMR.
