How often can I take it. It says to take after meals and at bedtime. I need it more than that right now. I've taken some before dinner, so I can eat, can I take it after too, and at bedtime, and if I wake up at night with the burning and so on?

(Am 20 something weeks pregnant)

Thomcat, i had bottles ALL over the house and took it constantly, (and made me gag every time, i don't envy you!).
I don't think it's harmful. I had a bottle next to my bed.

and the myth about hairy babies.........true both times with me!

as often as needed in pregnancy is my vote, but why dont you give Rennie Soft Chews a go too - you can have them as and when and really do help. I havent touched Gaviscon this time round because Rennies have done the trick.... HTH

Thomcat, someone on here suggested refreshers to me (the sweets) and they work a bit too, also not eating late (VERY boring i know, especially as you get the munchies late) and a glass of milk before bed.

Thanks SS for the link and Angeliz for the sympathy.
I love the stuff, well I don't it's foul, but it's life saving.
But not working right now.
Feel like my throat is on fire!
I have bottles everywhere too, car, handbag, work, upstairs in bedside drawer, bathroom cabinet, downstarirs in medicint cabinet and right now next to me as I type!

Your doctor may be able to prescribe stronger Gaviscon.

If you're having to drink bottles of the stuff go to the doctor. They can prescribe something that actually works instead - sorry can't remember the name of the stuff but is same as in the gaviscon tablets, you just need a prescription if you're pg.

They no longer make gaviscon advance?? At least that is what I heard a pharmacist tell a PG woman in the Chemists the other day.
I too drank vatfuls of the stuff. PG heartburn is the pits - you have my every sympathy TC.

They do make Gaviscon Advance still, and in tablet form there is Gaviscon Extra Strength.

Found it

Magnesium trisilicate was my salvation. You can buy it in boots or get dr to prescribe it. Perfectly safe for pregnancy. It was much better than gaviscon for me
