Question for those whos kids have had MMR......

My 13 month old daughter had her MMR on Wed and does not seem to have had any reaction at all....seems perfectly fine. If she was going to have a reaction (i.e temp, sickness...all the things they warn you about!) would it have happened by now or could it happen serveral days after??

Thanksx

usually 7-10 days (IIRC) did you not get given a little leaflet about - it should say on there

Neither of my boys had any 'reaction' to it

All 3 of my kids have had MMR, and I was told they wouldn't show any reaction til about 10days to 2 weeks later.
Hope that helps

7-10 days for flu like symptoms (also looks like teething)

3 weeks for mumps type symptoms

Oh....so I still have to worry then :-( Thanks anyway :-)

What does "IIRC" mean?

My dd came out in a rash about a week after the jab. It lasted for a couple of days. She was perfectly fine in herself, no temp, sickness or anything else, but had these spots all over.

IIRC = if I recall correctly

Sparks - DS did too. After doc had assured us that there would be no reaction!

He also slept a bit longer for a few days and wasn't as eager an eater as usual. But he soon got better.

Hi Tiasmummy, my 15 month old had his MMR on Tues so we are waiting for any reaction too, it's stressy isn't it. I was told they could devlope spots from the measles jab and perhaps flu like symptoms 7-12 days later but have also been assured that if they are healthy and didn't have a bad cold when jabbed, they should be fine even if they do develope a few symptoms, try not to worry...good luck

Kjaysmum, yeah it is really worrying. I keep inspecting her body and "thinking" i see things....no I am not a loon!! LOL! Just dreading the prospect of her getting ill :-(

my dd 13months had hers two weeks ago and we have just stopped the runny nose. perfectly happy in her self buy such a runny nose (very yucky too!). she had few measle spots about ten days after the jab but they went within 24 hours. by the way very impressed with nurse who did jab, dd did not flinch at all! I did though, she did not cry or anything, very impressed i was!

Because Tia moved when the needle first went in the nurse had to jab it in again! So now she has TWO needle marks :-(

DD had a rash, swaeting, temperature and generally unwell/off food at 9 days post injection. Lots of cuddles and calpol required for 3 days, then she was fine.

was told to watch for measles for 2 weeks and mumps for 3 weeks - although no reaction at all

Can react up to a few weeks after but none of mine did.

DD got quite spectacular measles spots after about 10-14 days which took a few days to clear. She was fine but we got a few good photos to embarras her with in later years!

no Tiasmum you're definately not a lune.. seems like lots of us go through the same stress, nice to know your not alone isn't it. Majorstress was the swollen face a mumps reaction? I'm not sure what mumps symptoms are....

Gem13 · 16/09/2005 19:01

I was told to look out for the measles rash 10 days after, but then read that mumps can show after 3 weeks, rubella after 6 weeks.

Report
majorstress · 16/09/2005 19:55

yes the swollen face would be mumps. she never had it anything like it before or since.
