Go to the chemists' counter and ask for Medised. Use a syringe b/c it can taste yuky.

Whilst there, pick up some Vick's Baby Balm to rub into his chest and one of those plug-in vaporisers for his room.

Shove a small pillow under his cot mattress or sheet so his wee head will be propped up a bit and he can hopefully sleep better.

By syringe I mean one of those things you use to squirt the medication in his mouth.

Blimey you're lucky to get to 8 months old without having suffered a cold! DD got her first one at 3 weeks!!

Anyway - now that he's a bit older there's actually more things you can give them. You can get children's olbas oil (which I find better than Karvol) which you can put on a muslin and then tie to the side of their cots to help them breathe more easily. Lots of fluids, lots of cuddles and may be raise one end of his cot slightly (couple of books are good for this) as this would stop him from getting so stuffed up.

Ventilation also helps - so wrap him up and take him out for a walk for some fresh air.

Hope he gets better soon.

Dinker - remember if you get some Medised - check with the pharmacist what else you can give with it - i.e. you can't use Calpol and Medised together...not sure about the Tixylix though.

The vaoprisers are good too - I got a plug in one from Boots - fills the air with menthol to clear stuffy noses - good for leaving on overnight.

Also at bathtime, whilst hes in the bath, put some hot water in the sink with a few drops of Olbas oil - again makes the air steamy & menthol to clear noses

Hope he's feeling better soon.

How the wee one doing today?

There's a fast-moving cold passing through the ranks here just now.

Hope the one he's got is short!
