Where has a climate of 20 degrees and no rain in August?

Because that's where I want to go for my next holiday. I love the weather we're having at the moment. Last August we were in Portugal and it was much too hot for me and DH couldn't cope either. We are looking at staying in the UK this year, but where else could we go?

No rain with that temperature is quite a challenge! Sometimes higher up in the alps can be like that (but sometimes you can get tremendous storms!)

Have a look at Calgary and see what you think.

Ooh, an answer from the MN weather expert in person! Thank you OYBBK.

I'll take a little rain but I live in Wales so I'd like a bit of a break!

DH has mentioned Canada a few times so I will have a look.

Weare going to Lanzarote in August, temps go to high 20's but everyone we know who has been says it doesn't feel that hot because always a breeze/light wind but rarely rains in august!

The Balearics are hotter than that but also have a lovely breeze so it rarely feels too hot - Menorca or Ibiza are both very nice.

Can't guarantee NO rain but consider the Isle of Wight??

I would go to Norfolk coast, Eastern side of UK is much drier than the west.

That's true hairy. Or east of the Pennines.

North Essex coast.

No guarantees of course, especially after this winter where parts of Canada had ridiculous snowfall!!

I have done Majorca in August and just ran from airconned shop to airconned bar (though it was beautiful)! I think we are going to give the Med a miss in August from now on. If we stay in the Uk, would definitely consider IOW as I love islands ( have done Jersey and IOM several times). Norfolk would ensure DD comes with us as her boyfriend lives there.

Not considered the Canaries, will take a look. Thanks.

Good to know that the East of the Uk is drier. So where are the driest places in the UK?

Handy map for you here you can input August and various definitions of rainfall. Seems Suffolk and Essex are the best place!
Actually for a short at home break Aldeburgh is pretty nice.

Oh. I did already post that.
I'm a bit tired!

We went Lanzarote in June and it was BOILING! Even though it was windy, it still felt hot, it was late 20's most days we were there! We stayed in Puerto Del Carmen though when we visited Costa Teguise it was a bit breezier there for some reason?! I think it will be hard to find somewhere. Brighton, England?! grin

Madeira?
I'd avoid Calgary. Can be hot but can snow - even in August!

I don't think there are any guarantees anywhere.

.....Apart from Vegas - you could drive from casino to casino grin

Ha ha at Vegas. DS would love that, unfortunately he's only 16. So no easy answers then? I might stay home and pop down the Gower on nice days.

The Azores or Madeira.

The Azores are beautiful and average August temperatures are 22 degrees in Ponta Delgada, which is where we stayed.

I love the sound of the Azores. I will have a good look at them.

I've always fancied Madeira too. Love Portugal itself so both of interest.

Saying that, we've been on the beach in Tenby today, it was gorgeous weather.

Bunbaker Fri 25-Apr-14 17:08:56

I love Tenby. We have had rain and 10 degrees here in South Yorkshire today.

We stayed on San Miguel in Ponta Delgada when we went to the Azores. Back then you could only get there via Lisbon, but I believe there are direct flights from the UK now. It is worth hiring a car because the island is very pretty. This is the picture that was on the brochure when we booked our holiday and when we wen to Sete Cidades it was even prettier.

I must admit that I prefer warmer weather than the low 20s on holiday so I found the weather disappointingly cool at times, especially when we were at higher altitudes. But it sounds like it will be ideal for you.

Anywhere like the Azores or Madeira will be hot in August. They are too far south to be cooler! Definitely Canada or go North of Boston, USA. Alaska is definitely cool. Iceland. Norway, Sweden, Denmark or Baltic. Might rain but great places to visit.

California? Stunning weather, but ££££ to go and do it well.
