Pros

It's good, less of a memory hog and ime is a lot more effective than McAffee (the only virus I ever had on my windows machine attacked McAffee first ).

Cons

Erm. You only heard about it recently?

no avg is just a antivirus so you will need firewall too.

ive been researching firewall software to see which ones are good and decided to download comodo firewall pro which is free and so far so good and have read from reviews that microsoft firewall isnt the best.

AVG interfered with my email programme somehow and blocked all incoming email.

So I uninstalled it and downloaded Avast instead, which is fine.

will bear that in mind thanks. ds is the main user of the lap top, and he doesn't seem to be affected. but if I use it on the pc it would affect me as I use email a lot.

I seem to be the only person in the world who likes it, but Zone Alarm Free edition covers all my Firewalling needs.
I have no problems with AVG and email.
