How do I play the video clips off my camera on the PC then?

Why is nothing straightforward .
Have uploaded pics and videos from the camera into Windows Photo Gallery (have Vista) and the pictures are fine but it says it cannot recognise the videos as they are a .MOV file. Anyone know which program I can use (or need to download) to play them on the pc - pretty, pretty please????????
Have been merrily uploading photos from the camera for a while and not noticed that the videos were disappearing into a black hole - hope I have got them all or I won't be very popular . Thanks

looks like it is a known problem - if you google it (.mov vista) is comes up with a lot of hits.

I don't have vista so can't help much more.

hope you came up with something - it looked like there were various options.

It also looked like a lot of people were finding the transition to vista less than straightforward.

I am guessing the files are there on your pc - but vista doesn't know what to do with them.

Hmmm - well you're right throckenholt there are lots of hits but now I need to know which would be the best sw to download to let me view them and of course which is safe to do so. Anyone?

.MOV is Apple Quicktime I believe.

Try downloading the Free version of Quicktime - at date of posting, 7.5 is latest version, runs on XP and Vista.
