Stripes of a funny colour across printing...what have I done to my printer?

I have cleaned & deep cleaned

I have print head aligned

I want to throw it out of the window

Anyone got anything more constructive to do with it?

Have you restarted the PC in case it's sending it wrong?

Are they neat stripes or does it look like it leaked?

Does it do this every time... even on say a text document (if your printer has a separate black cartridge, change text to a colour, then print out one page... is the text the correct colour?)

Is it a combination cartridge (where all colours are in the same cartridge)? If so, then think it may be best to try a new cartridge.

Could need a new print head, could be something damaged internally... oh it could be anything.
Pain in the butt are printers!
Probably more costly to repair than replace.
New colour inkjets seem to start from £20 - thus often cheaper to replace, than repair.

Out of interest, what printer is it: make and model, eg: Canon MP500, Lexmark X2480

Sounds like your cartridge needs changing. They don't run out of all the colours at the same time, so when one colour goes, the others compensate.
Thats what happens with mine anyway

New print head needed, may fix the problem.
Ebay item or price from online stores seems to be £40 upwards.

You could try cleaning you existing print head (though note, could damage it completely).

All of a sudden it fixed it's self

Our Canon did that, then the printhead overheated and the error message code said it needed replacing - which would cost more than a new printer. Last week someone posted they'd cleaned theirs in Fairy !
