Freesat and Digital Video Recorder question

Firstly apologies if I sound totally stupid about this - it's because I am!

I have a card I bought from Sky for £20 that allows me to view free channels through my satellite dish with no subscription. This works fine for me - we have no reception with aerial or freeview so have to use the dish.

Now I would like to be able to record one programme while watching another (am currently missing Heroes to watch House - and there's nothing on most of the week!) - but with my limited understanding I can't see if any of the digital video recorders are compatible with my free satellite. Does anyone know if they are?

I don't know about freestat specificially. I assume you have a decoder box that the card slots into. If you put the cable from it that presently goes into the TV into a digital video recorder that should work fine. You will only be able to record one and watch another if the box has more than one tuner. It will say on the box it came in if it has two tuners.

What model sky/freesat box do you have?

you need a sky+ box don't you?
I am thinking that the pvr would just have the freesat channel that was on coming in as an input and could record this, to watch another your sky box would need 2 inputs.
maybe put a sky+ request on freecycle?
