when you drag it to trash the trash icon will change to an 'eject' one ( |> only pointing upwards)

Drag the icon to trash - not the files, you'll see the icon change to an eject symbol. Or right click (if you have a mighty mouse, shift click if you don't) - and select Eject.

The icon will be on the desktop on the right hand side, somewhere underneath your Macintosh HD icon.

when you put the card in, did a folder or something appear on your desktop?

Actually, when you open a Finder window it should have the removable devices down the left hand side with Eject buttons next to each. Just click the appropriate one and pull the card reader out.

You can drag it to the trash or open finder window and click the eject arrow next to the drive's
icon

Boyz, do you live near an Apple Store? If so, they do tutorials there, some of which you pay for, but some you don't. Look on the Apple UK site for more info.

Sorry it's not shift click, it's control click - just correct myself there...

The help is pretty exhaustive, too.

Make sure you have closed all the files on the drive.

MrsBadger · 03/06/2008 15:33

once you have dragged it to the trash just pull it out
if you leave it plugged in it re-detects it when you open a Finder window

er

is there a card in the reader?

if there's not then there's no 'disk' for the Mac to detect so nothign will show up and you can just unplug it

closed all the files on the drive? eh?

am confused myself now. If you've ejected it it won't show in the finder or the dock. If you want to see it again, unplug it and then plug it back in
