MP4 file not opening on computer...

Hello lovely Geeks.

I am trying to view an MP4 file (video from mobile) on my computer but windows is saying it cannot open the file

Any ideas?

Both Windows media player and Realplayer are not opening it. Neither 'recognise' the file type.

WMP says "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

Surely an MP4 is a straightforward file?

OK - so all fingers point towards a codec problem.

How do I find out which codec my phone used to compress the file?
