Pound signs going strange...

pound signs on websites (and in emails) all look like J's, if I try and type a pound sign it looks like this - £.

whats happened? if i do it in Word or anything offline its fine...

any ideas?

Well 163 is the code for a pound sign (in unicode and UTF-8 for the techies).

What is this happening in? Is this when filling in web forms? Internet Exploder? Firefox?

hi, i only use IE and its when a pound sign should be displayed on a website it comes up as a j. also if anyone sends me an email with a pound sign in it does the same.

on MN though if i try and type a pound sign i get the unicode.

anything offline like word/excel its fine so its not the keyboard afaik.
