We got the Sony DCR-SR52 with 30gb hard disk. Went for that so we wouldn't have little disks all over the place. But it is taking up a lot of my storage on my laptop, so have an external drive to save all the film too.

It's very simple to use and download. But TBH, I think I would have just used the built in video on our compact digital if I'd thought about it a bit harder (less storage, less hassle as you have to have someone that will remember to take the video, and it isn't my DH! I now also have alot of film to edit)

We've just bought a Panasonic NV GS320 Mini Dv Camcorder, which is really diddy - handsized - and very simple to operate. Records onto tiny tapes (or memory disk for still pictures) which can be downloaded to the PC and then burned onto disk.

We bought an Everio in the summer. We chose it because it was a hard-disc memory rather than tapes, and is designed to be used with the computer rather than TV (it does have all the cables to connect directly into the TV though).

Thanks for replying am tempted towards a hard disk type one, is it easy to transfer to the pc for a technophobe?
