Is this a scam/phishing?

I am the contact for our club, any emails from our website come to my email address via an anonymous email on the website. I have received an email via this website which thanks me for an order I have apparently placed. There are no details in the email, but there is an attachment which I should open for full details of the order. I have not opened it. The thing is when I look to see where it has come from it says Luton Cameras and this is a company that seems to exist. Do I delete the email and not think any more about it? Do I email this company and ask about it? I don't know what to do!

Whatever you do Don't open the attachment or reply to the email.

By all means go the the legitimate website and email them on their "contact us" page and see what they say. It sounds fishy to me.

Possible. Or they've been hacked.

Oh! DH has come home from work today and this exact thing has happened to him only someone hacked his place of works email and it's sending very similar emails out (not Luton cameras though!).

People are emailing and calling left right and centre but as long as you don't click anything it'll be ok.

It sounds like their address book has been hacked.

I had exactly the same this morning. I said my credit card would be charged x amount too. I've deleted the email and not opened the attachment. Mine was from a 'female name' though.

How weird, I got the exact same email to my junk folder today. Googled the company but it was some sort of solicitors. Deleted it!

Oh, I'm glad it's not just me. It definitely didn't 'feel' right. I will delete!

What would happen if you accidentally opened the attachment?

I've got one of these too, but claiming to be from a different company.

It says:

"Thank you for using our services!
Your order #73898762881 will be shipped on 07-09-2014.

Date: September 02, 2014. 10:06am
Price: £124.24
Payment method: Wire transfer
Transaction number: E6A0A69B8AC3661E

Please find the detailed information on your purchase in the attached file

Best regards,
Sales Department
Kayleigh Bufton"

The email address is [email protected]. There is a company called simply media, but they don't use that domain name.

It's definitely fishy to say the least.

Mine was exactly the same. First one some car or driving school, second one a radio station called pulse.

I had one today - from a marine exploration company saying that I'd ordered £191.00 of goods.

I have had several of these recently and just delete them. I also got one today

"What would happen if you accidentally opened the attachment?"

It might introduce a trojan, activate a virus or lead you to a website that is phishing.

OH is a bit of a geek and he says that you should NEVER open an attachment or click on a link on an email from someone you don't know.

I got one of these today and reported it to the police.
