Both dc are off to uni and we need Office 10. What's the lowest-cost way of doing this please? Had anyone seen any discounts or special student deals?

Um isn't it office 2013 now. Do they need the personal or actually the enterprise edition.

There should be education discount from most places that sell it. But for most things all they need is the free version on Microsoft skydrive. Have you looked at that or does uni say they must have an offline version? The online one can export and import to offline documents. (They are now giving it away for free as most people find google docs have all they need anyway).

These explains the free MS office versions. I'm just not sure if you know about them (I found most people don't). Ignore if you already do or that you do need the full offline one

And skydrive is also onedrive. I can't remember what is it current name now. MS keeps changing it!

Thanks everyone. They need the offline version to be able to work on the train etc - v.10 is a minimum. I think the University edition is the one to go for. Just another spend to add to an expensive few years!

Why is v 10 a minimum? The cheapest solutions are OpenOffice and LibreOffice which are free and which read and write Micro$oft formats. No use if you need things like Visual Basic for Applications though. They also have one other advantage: they work.
