far as i knew,currently all 3ds game cards only support running 3ds games on N3DS V4.1-4.5,so i'm afraid,there havnt any cards can support your ran pokemon x/y ,animal crossing on your N3DS V7.1. So, if you want buy a card for your 7.1 firmware, you can buy r4i gold 3ds, the big different between them lies in GW3DS supports 3ds games, yet,r4i gold not, but r4i gold 3ds can work on all nintendo console with all firmware version. With the latest update my R4ids card doesn't work with my 3DS. You need to be wary of letting the device update before the card developers have released a new patch. You need to read their websites clearly as to what 3DS build you can use it on. I sometimes needed to put the card in an old DSi to update it as the 3DS wont let it run at all.

I bought my R4i gold 3DS from www.digitopz.com/ originally. and patched it at www.r4ids.cn/

(If you own the games on your DS / DSI then you should be able to play them on your 3DS without paying for them again, i think this right is preserved under EU rules)

No any flashcard is allowed to play 3ds games on 3DSV7.1.0. cause all 3ds games can only be palyed on 3DSV4.1-4.5. it seems it's a little difficult to upgrade the 7.1 to 4.5.

Currently there are no flashcard can play 3ds games on 3DS v7.1,gateway 3ds can play 3ds games on 3ds v4.1 ~ v4.5, this one www.dsgameruk.com/gateway-3ds-support-3ds-roms-p-27.html So if your 3DS is not v4.1 ~ v4.5,you should get r4 3ds card to paly ds games on your 3ds.
