getting rid of btinternet

Please help - my btinternet email account has been repeatedly hacked and used to send spam to my whole address book and more. I've changed the password several times and have decided now just to move to gmail and bin btinternet altogether, but I can't work out how to delete the account. Does anyone know?? Thanks.

Have no knowledge (been 15 years since I had a dial up account with BT internet) of their features, but the Forums on www.ThinkBroadband.com should (in one of the more general sections)
