Ipad air bought in states - charging with uk ipad1 charger?

I have the lead that came with the ipad air and a socket thing that came with my dh's ipad 1 bought in the uk. can injust plug the lead into the uk adapter? Don't want to blow up my new ipad!

Btw the ipad 1 adapter says 10w USB power adapter 100-240v 0.45a 50-60 hz output 5.1v but the ipad air (bought in us with us pin socket) says 12w USB power adapter 100-240v 0.5a 50-60hz output 5.2v. Feel like I'm sitting a physics a level!!!

I understand, after the "fun" with my ipad leads, that the old charger will be slow/underpowered, but probably not unsafe.

Can you just stick the USA charger into a US-UK adaptor?

Thanks found a us adaptor (well think it is, the us plug fits) and its charging without exploding! Thanks!

They're definitely close enough to be interchangeable. Even the charge time difference would be negligible.
