I downloaded some free PDFBinder software I needed for work. I used a link by bloody stupid nephew assured me was safe to download and use.

A few days later I've noticed that whenever I open up a new Google Chrome browser, it automatically redirects to HolaSearch.

I've removed this from Google by changing my homepage and new tab settings, and also removed the PDFBinder and two other programs I think got downloaded with it.

I also searched my whole computer for HolaSearch and nothing showing up.

I've removed from IE (I don't use this but removed just in case)

Yet it's still showing up on Google Chrome. My laptop seems to be running much slower too so I don't know if it's an innocent re-direct or if it's a virus.

To top it off my McAfee subscription doesn't seem to be working and I can't find my disk to re-install.

I am reluctant to download yet more free software to remove bloody bastard Holasearch, but I think I might have to.

It's so annoying and my laptop is becoming virtually unusable. I could cry. Can anyone recommend a safe, free way to remove this virus?

I'm going to hunt for my McAfee CD in the meantime...

go here and scoll down to the Chrome bit for instructions on how to remove.

If you can't find your McAfee CD, consider installing Microsoft Security Essentials, which is free and very good.

Download Malwarebytes, update and scan, this will search and delete any malware lurking.

If you still have problems, download adw cleaner, this will search and delete any pup,s(potentially unwanted programs) both of these are legitamate and widely used programs to deal with pc nasties.

I received this after DD2 downloaded minecraft. Took me a good couple if hours to get rid of it but Google how to do it and followed the instructions. lastly did the crap cleaner and it went. it's one of those that you have to uncheck the box when installing but is easily missed. Have redownloaded minecraft but did it slowly to make sure we didn't get it back Smile
