Facebook privacy question

I often "like" statuses, photos etc of groups or people, it seems all my other friends can see this? Is there a way to keep that private without blocking all my own statuses from those friends?

For example a friend of DP's who saw I had liked some feminist stuff brought it up in the pub (er you're quite feminist aren't you?!) and I did not feel in the mood to educate his ignorant ass as no doubt I would discover his backward views on women and would be obliged to hate him so ignored the question but I don't want to be in this situation, nor do I want to stop giving my feminist friends and causes on Facebook support.

I know the simplest thing would be to reduce him or anyone else I don't want to see all my stuff to "acquaintance" on fb but it is a wider problem really - I only want the person whose status I've liked and their friends to see that, not all my friends too.

Watching with interest as I've noticed if I post a pic friends of friends have liked it..how? I can't seem to stop it, my privacy is set at friends only but once they comment it opens it to their friends!
Sorry not much help but I know where you're coming from.

It's actually up to your friends. If they are a mutual friend with their status set to friends only, he will see it.

If they tag you, he will see it.

If your friend has her stuff public, he will see it.

If your friend isn't a mutual friend (of you & him) and her stuff is friends only, only she will it (along with her friends)

hoolit them liking or commenting doesn't open it up to their friends (unless they are mutual), your settings do & if they have tagged themselves it will also.

Ahhh. .. the good old ignorance of using facebook.
@madam... i'll be blunt , nothing you do on facebook, and I mean NOTHING you do on facebook is private. Every click, friend, like , group, page , update, status is visible to all your friends at a bare minimum otherwise what would be the point in facebook.

once it is visible to them it falls in the realms of visible to their friends, the cia, nsa, gchq...

if it bothers you do not use facebook. OR what you should have said to your male friend was something along the lines of... "that's right.. I was browsing your facebook activity and you come across a right dick... "

the choise is yours.
