I had some work done on the computer and all my bookmarks (in Mozilla Firefox) have gone. Is it possible to restore them please? TIA.

Only if you backed them up. What work did you have done? Sounds like whoever did it cleared all your Internet settings.

Personally I use Google Chrome as my browser because I can log into it with my Google account and all my settings are saved in the cloud so no risk of losing them. Plus I share all my bookmarks across all my devices in the same way.

Thanks PPLC. Work was to remove a third-party browser which had become installed on the back of something the kids had downloaded, plus a general clear up. Didn't know I could back bookmarks up!! As you'll gather, I'm not a complete computerphobe, but not particularly up with things like that.

Can you explain (in simple terms) how I can save settings logging in with Google acocunt/Chrome please as that will have to be the way forward? TIA.

First you need a Google account. If you have Gmail or an Android phone then you will already have one of these. If not you can create one by going to the Google home page and selecting sign in followed by sign up.

Secondly, you'll need to download the Chrome browser if don't already have it. You can get this by Googling "Google Chrome" and following the download instructions.

Once Chrome is downloaded and opened, there is an option to log into Chrome using your Google account, I think this is under the menu option at the top right of the window (not on PC right now so not certain).

Once you've done that, any bookmarks you add are stored in your Google account.

Hope that helps. Happy to answer follow up questions if you get stuck!

Also, if you are running Android version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or above, then you can use Chrome as the browser on your phone too which means you can have all the same bookmarks as on your PC.
