Like Excel, but not Excel, on an iPad?

I need to compile and compare various travel options for a trip in July. Normally I'd do this on a spreadsheet, but I'm using an iPad, which doesn't have Excel, obvs. Nor do I particularly want to buy an Excel app, even if there is such a thing.

There must be a funkier way of doing this in 2013! Please enlighten me!

You can subscribe to a version of Microsoft Office that works on the go, and you buy a monthly subscription. First month is free, so you could cancel once done?

I went through the Microsoft website.

Try cloud storage. I think zoho docs have got an ipad version. I believe that Google docs can be edited via the Google drive app as well.

You go into the App store on your iPad, or iTunes on your computer, to search for apps.

There is also Smart Office (I have Smart Office 2 for Android, it's very good) or if you are going to be connected to the internet for the duration, you can use Google drive instead. You can edit the spreadsheet just in a browser (Chrome, Safari or whatever) and there is an app to provide access to Drive as well. You can make the spreadsheet available offline but editing is more limited.

There's also an online version of Excel from Microsoft, which you can use in a browser, in Skydrive

There is an Apple spreadsheet app called Numbers (not free).

Google Docs spreadsheets would work

Numbers is about £6.99 for the app

Thanks for all the suggestions. Will have a look and play tonight. Anything to put off actually starting to find the cheapest way to get from Bristol to central France.
