Confused?! So am I.
My C drive is showing that it's chocker block full. 0 MB of space left so the whole laptop is processing really, really slow. I took almost everthing off it a few months back, all my pics and powerpoints for work. Loads.

Only thing on it now is a few albums (itunes) and some small Word documents. No pics. But the memory is still full. I've traced it back to my Username and that file is showing 24 GB of memory used, and I've also noticed a little padlock on my username that wasn't there before.

Thing is, I cannot download any new updates for my iphone, canot download any work documents at all. It's that full. But of what? I do not know.

Is it possible that there can be ghost files? Taking up space but not really existing??

Help!

Oh, and another thing - what's Playbryte? I'm getting popups, hyperlinks under innocuous words and extra tabs opening for me to start doing surveys all courtesy of playbryte.

Gah.

PlayBryte is Adware

Can you delete anything from your C drive? Does it then say it has freespace, or does it fill up again?

Can you login to SafeMode? When in Safemode do you have access to AntiMalware and AntiVirus software? Run those if you can.

if you can get on the internet try this :-
www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/pc-security/malware-removal.aspx
and run a disc clean up and a defrag either before or after they may take a bit of time depending how much stuff is on ur drive

Is your recycle bin empty?

My laptop appeared to be full-up last year, everyone agreeing it was impossible until expensive expert told me it was AVG filling it up - sorry I can't be more technical, but maybe you could check for similar.
