Can Windows 8 'talk' to Windows 7

I wonder if anyone can advise me - we have two computers in our office at home that are linked through netgeard so that they can share files, emails etc. One has WindowsXP and one has Windows7. We now need to get a third laptop for a new employee but most seem to now been Windows8. Does anyone know if the different versions will still be able to 'share' files etc?

Thanks

Yes absolutely, windows is on the whole, backwards compatible (to a point) which means newer versions will still network with (talk to) older versions. So you will be fine.
My only warning - windows 8 is a very different beast to use/get used to from windows 7 (IMO) - be ready for a steep learning curve!

Oh thanks for replying.

Eek - is it really so different? What the hell, it will keep me busy!

It's not that difficult to get used to. An hour or so working out the new UI is all you need. Most of the stuff in the background is pretty much the same.
