Is there a way of retrieving a deleted document in Windows 7?

DD has been working on some Uni stuff today and clicked the wrong button sending all her completed work off into the big wide wonder. Can it be got back...please?

I had a cold sweat reading this! Would "undo" or control+z work? If its auto saving, there should be an incomplete version somewhere.

I think I've found an incomplete version but not the stuff she's spent most of today on, in the mean time she's closed her laptop down and cried quietly in the corner, I may have to offer her copious amounts of chocolate to see her through. I've done a search of the recycle bin, recent places and the hard drive but nothing shows up.

Am I missing something? Deleted files go into the Recycle bin and stays there until you or your housekeeping software 'empties' it.

It depends on what happened. Was she working on a document and lost it when asked if she wanted to save & exit and she replied "no" by accident?

What software was she using? MS Word takes automatic copies of the document in case the PC crashes but it does delete them when you exit and/or save the document.

I think that's it nice, I know she went to save it to attach to an email, but hit no by mistake. Is it lost forever?
