Hello

I just almost bought an iPad. But really I want a nexus 10. The 16gb is in stock, the 32gb is proving hard to get hold of

I've read lots of stuff about ways of increasing the storage but I'm a Luddite and I don't understand

Basically, my iPhone is 16gb, it's hot a fraction of my music, I download the photos regularly to my laptop but its still not got much room to spare

If I get the16gb nexus am I going to be constantly shuffling stuff between devices?

Oh and I don't really understand the cloud and think if I haven't got 3G then if I store all my music in the cloud rather than on the thing itself then I won't be able to access it where there is no wifi

Can anyone help me decide if 16gb will do or if I should wait indefinitely for the 32gb of get an iPad instead?

Sounds to me if 16GB is definitely unsuitable for you.

You are right about the cloud. You cannot access it without wifi if you do not have a 3G enabled tablet.

Can I ask what it is about the Nexus 10 you particularly like? Because for slightly less money you can get the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10. OK the screen resolution isn't as good but I doubt in practice you can see much difference. And crucially for you, you can buy a MicroSD card and store much more music/photos.

Oh. More confusion

Well I decided I'd prefer an android to an iPad for all the flexibility with apps and suchlike. And well, um I'd just only really heard of the nexus. It seems to be the one people bang on about as an alternative to the iPad

Informed and technical huh?

I don't mean to throw more cats in the pigeon pile, but there's also the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and the ASUS Transformer Infinity (or the TF300 for a cheaper option). Both these also take SD cards and that's a much cheaper way of getting more memory than shelling out on larger iPad options for example.

Here's a comparison. The latest iPad costs £399 for the 16GB version or £479 for the 32GB version so that costs you £80 for an extra 16GB. The Galaxy 10.1 is on Amazon right now for £355 for the 16GB version and a 16GB SD card will cost you less than a tenner. (notice the 800% mark up Apple put on memory).

So it's pretty much a no brainer to go for a device with an SD card slot and you're definitely on the right track avoiding Apple!!!
