What can I plant in my little (Victorian terraced) front garden?

Its a conrete mess at the moment - we've only just moved in!

Size is about 4 x 10.

It quite a shady area, we only have sun from 2.30 until dusk.

I'd prefer everygreen, bushy, flowering plants, maybe some winter flowing too. Perenial would be good and don't want to work too hard - so must be able to look after themselves (I've got the kids to look after!) I dont mind watering them!

Can I have roses, I love climing roses?!

shrubs are a good idea.

Camelia is a very pretty evergreen shrub with rose like flowers. Mine is in flower now, so they are fab for a bit of early colour, and they like shady areas.

There are TONS of different types of rose, I'm sure theres a type out there perfect for your plot

Bat trees in proper bay pots would look good.
Some of the white flowering Clematis would not look out of place either.Fatsia too.
Are you going to dig the concrete up?
When you say 4x10 is that in yards or metres?

Yes, we going to did up the concrete over Easter, and put bark/chipping down.

Thanks for all your suggestions, more appreciated....
