Jasmine help please!

My jasmine has just bloomed recently, absolutely covered in buds, on xmas day they starting flowering, and quite a few have now flowered, smells great.

However, now many of the buds have died/are dying, and lots of the leaves are starting to look scraggly. There is new growth, but after pruning the dying leaves and buds the actual plant is looking quite bare and not as full as it used to.

Also, there is a lot of white spots covering the top of the soil.

Is this scraggliness normal? What are the white spots?

Any ideas would be great as I love my jasmine and it has flourished this year, after being given to me in a bad way.

no idea, sorry - but love the word "scraggliness" and it does give you a bump!

not entirely sure, but i've done a bit of reading up on jasmine because my (inherited!) one doesn't have many flowers.
they do seem to be very hardy little sausages, though, and can be pruned v. hard in spring, and although they may not flower as well the next winter, the winter after they will be glorious. (that's the theory, anyway )

Thanks Dilbertina - could not think of the right word, so scraggliness seemed to say it!!!

Anna - thanks for this too. I have done some research also, and agree it seems that they are hardy, friend just told me to feed, which I have not one for too long, which I did yesterday so we shall see how that works. I was also told that the white stuff is mould nd does not effect the jasmine itself.

All the flowers seem to be dying now and no more are growing, a few weeks ago it was just absolutely covered in buds .

Oh well, shall prune in spring and see what happens.
