xmas gift planting a pot

hiya, trying to do a cheap xmas, want to plant a couple of pots for people as cheap alternative.

have a few medium sized pots i can use. have only had a medium success as a gardener myself!

for boring reason, my family xmas dinner is this saturday (dont ask!!) so need to do this asap and have limited access to various shops.

was going to order amaryllus bulbs but left too late! pots prob should be for outside, would be nice to have something early spring flowering (or earlier if poss!) and have limited access to decent garden centres.

thoughts!!!

and any tips about garden centres in SW london near streatham

Herb garden? use the growing herbs from the supermarket.
