Screening a brick wall that I can't actually attach anything to, it's not mine!

I have an ugly wall at bottom of the garden -the back of a neighbour's garage and he is elderly and not very nice

Part of the boundary is my fence which has some lovely climbers and shrubs in front of that but I wish to screen the brick wall in some way.

Any suggestions? It is about 8ft wide (not the whole of the back of his garage) and I don't want to plant anything in front of it because of him complaining about his foundations understandably.

pots with bamboo in. It grows super quick and looks great.

Plant what you like. It's not up to him what you plant in your garden!!

willow or hazel hurdles thus?

Whilst it sin't up to him, do be careful if planting soemthing that grow quickly and has large roots.
Our front wall began to crack and it was due to a shrub/small tree that our neighbour had planted. Fortunatley they had the same problem as it affectef their side of the wall to, so removed it.
What about jasmine in a pot?
Or bamboo?

As long as you don't plant a blardy gert tree it shouldn't do any damage to his foundations.

I would check your rights (CAB?) We fix plant ties and wires along out neighbours fence, not been a problem for us - although had friendly neighbours.

Sorry was off nosing around the rest of MN!!

I like the willow screening. My neighbour is the kind of person who would kill off anything I planted in the dead of night

The obelisk is lovely in the right setting but I live on a modern estate where garden gnomes are the norm

As long as the screening supports itself I will be ok.

If it was a fence I think I would just grow stuff up it but it is brick so I would be drilling into his property. I wouldn't like it if someone did it to mine.

Bamboo also sounds good too, thanks
