VERBENAS - what to do with them?

Garden novice on the loose - see me other thread regarding peas.

My mum gave me some tiny verbena plantelets from her garden. They have survived the trip home from Holland and are currently still wrapped in kitchen roll in a small bowl of water on the window sill in the kitchen.
I am waiting for the mahoosive rainshower to stop before venturing out to plant them.

Where do I put them. There are a few possible spots:

  1. North facing front garden, around the bay window
  2. South facing rear garden, near the fence to next door. Will have sun (what is that) most of the day (if and when sun reappears)

    What would it prefer?
Mum says it spreads quite a lot, but that is what is needed as both options are bare patches that desperately need brightening up.

    Any advice gratefully received!

Are we talking about the 5 ft tall perrinal with lots of pinky/purple flowers on stalks.
If so def option 2 near the fence. grew some fronm seed last year and they look great and flower for quite a long period. They do need some sort of support.
If you have a few tho, why not plant in both locations and see where they like it best. Each plant gets quite big, so you can space them out.

That is the one! Have I got the wrong name? I will definately plant some along the fence - those dreary panels could do with brightening up. I have a few little ones but mum reckoned they self-seed very well and will soon multiply, so may take your advice and plant front and back.
