Splint and wrap with tape - ours not only survived doing this but sprouted off and grew two sunflowers on one plant!

Thanks everyone. Would try to wrap with tape but the top has withered now. Maybe I should just cut the stalk off above leaves and hope it will sprout out. Fingers crossed

When does the flower head appear?

the head from my massive sunflower suddenly disappeared (pre-flowering),I think my horrible neighbours did it. anyway, that was about a month ago and it hasn't produced anything else so is just stuck in the ground with loads of leaves! We lost anyone to wind this week despite plenty of canes and lots of string - we took it down and dd has great fun using it as a light sabre/walking stick! there's always hope.
