Apparently they don't like to walk over curry powder, so you could try sprinkling that round the perimeter of your garden. Make sure you wear proper gloves while you're gardening as well.

if you have any roses then scatter the prunings where the cat likes to go - it will soon find somewhere else then you can remove the prunings.

Does the male man weeing round the perimeter work for cats? I know it works for something, could be foxes..
If not, take shooting lessons & get an air rifle or a dog

Cayena pepper can help but if your toddler likes to crawl over the areas forget it, it would get on his eyes. If the cat limits itself to one area, by all means try it.

I see no fairness in not being able to use your own garden, or spend a little fortune in keeping the cat away just to conform to the likes and desires of a stupid cat, particularly when having him toileting in your garden may result in damage to your unborn baby.

My MIL used to trap them and send them to the local pound. If dog walkers are expected to clean after their dogs, perhaps we can expect cat owners to train them well in using their own trays.
