Hi, I'd try emailing them through the contacts tab at the top of the page, to the Weybridge Allotment Holders and Gardeners Association, and ask to forward to Peter King, the hut manager, about the special child-size gardening tools and how you can purchase them etc.

I'd love to know how you get on as am almost in the same predicament. I can still fob off my eldest with my blunt hand tools but not for much longer!!!!!

If I gave my DS a "proper" spade and fork, he'd be waving it around as a weapon and charging around with it. He is however ok with my hand fork and trowel - the garden is another matter! I also remember as a small child (about five) going round to a friend's place when she stuck her Dad's garden fork through her foot and had to be rushed off to hospital

nikkie-proper ones for kids? I don't mean the little useless hand tools, I mean proper sized down tools?

possibly useful article about kids' gardening tools here

Filly - could you let me know if you get a response from the allotment fella. Ds is using a small adult spade ATM, and I am not happy about it. He is 5.

oh i will

thanks hewlett, have been checking links but they don't seem great

I might just go with what I linked to first, actually

Didn't really look at them , just saw brightly coloured things
They have wheelbarrows in Wilkos that are little fold up canvas ones that look quite good if they are any good?

hi, I've just brought a spade and rake from lidl for £1.49 each. They are about 3 ft high (wooden) with a nice study metal head. Not as good as some of the really expensive childrens gardening equipment you can buy and probably won't last as long. But having seen what my DS1 has just dug over will certainly be worth the money! And he feels really grown up - just like mummy he said!
did you ever hear back from the alloment hut?
